*Job Description Summary*
Dr. Scott's laboratory is seeking a skilled Senior Research Investigator. The laboratory is focused on understanding the immunologic responses that promote protection and pathology in cutaneous leishmaniasis, with the goal of developing a leishmania vaccine and effective immunotherapies for patients. Toward that end, the Scott lab investigates the role of the skin microbiome in promoting increased pathology in mice and patients. In conjunction with Dr. Scott, this individual will be expected to establish and execute key projects related skin immunology, as well as help lead the scientific management of other personnel and projects in the laboratory.

*Job responsibilities include:*

* Independently develop experiments to investigate the interactions of the skin microbiome with the host immune system, focusing on Tregs and the influence on Leishmania infections in mice
* Mentor junior students and post docs
* With all lab members, help to coordinate projects related to the skin microbiome and leishmaniasis and monitoring the mouse colony
* Other responsibilities as assigned

*Qualifications*

Highly advanced professional discipline, with a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree and 5-7 years of post-doctoral experience is required. Training in immunology is essential, and there is a preference for someone skilled in a variety of techniques important for immunologic and molecular approaches. Evidence of working independently is essential. Experience handling experimental animals (mice) is essential. Knowledge of the skin immune system and the skin microbiome is preferred.

Extensive experience working in a lab is required; extensive experience working with experimental animals (mice) is required; extensive knowledge of immunology is required and specifically skin immunology; experience working with the skin microbiome is required; experience working with Leishmania parasites is preferred.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
