Job Description
As a Senior Merchandiser, you will own category strategy and financial outcomes, driving the strategic direction and performance of product categories to align with broader company objectives. You will lead initiatives across product innovation, sourcing, pricing, assortment planning, and go-to-market execution. Collaborating across teams, you’ll optimize site merchandising, leverage customer and competitive insights, and manage supplier relationships to maximize sales, margins, and customer engagement in a fast-paced eCommerce environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Category Leadership and Strategy Development: Own and execute end-to-end category strategies aligned with company goals. Define assortment architecture, productivity targets, pricing strategies, and seasonal priorities to drive sales, margin, and customer engagement. Expand assortments thoughtfully based on customer needs and market trends.
- Business Ownership and Financial Accountability: Own category P&L performance, including sales, margin, inventory productivity, and working capital targets. Use data-driven insights to identify opportunities, implement growth plans, and deliver against financial goals. Lead category forecasting, performance tracking, and reporting. Leverage KPI frameworks to guide decision-making.
- Product Innovation and Development: Source and develop new products that deliver a best-in-class assortment. Manage the full product lifecycle across long-lead overseas and short lead domestic timelines to ensure speed-to-market, trend alignment, and profitability. Champion supplier-led innovation and proactively identify white space opportunities.
- Supplier Management and Sourcing Strategy: Manage strategic supplier relationships to support business goals. Optimize and expand the supplier base, negotiate cost structures and commercial terms, and identify cross-sourcing opportunities to drive margin growth and enhance supply chain resilience. Support initiatives for sustainable sourcing where possible.
- Site Merchandising & User Experience Optimization: Own product placement, taxonomy, site navigation, and on-site content optimization to maximize user engagement and conversion. Collaborate with digital and marketing teams to enhance the online shopping experience, improve click-through and conversion rates, and drive sales growth. Use digital KPIs such as conversion, bounce rate, and attach rates to inform decisions.
- Customer and Market Insights: Leverage customer data, competitive analysis, market trends, and analytics to inform strategic decisions. Identify emerging opportunities, assortment gaps, and white space to stay ahead of consumer demand and market shifts. Track competitor moves and industry innovations.
- Go-to-Market Strategy and Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Digital teams to execute seasonal campaigns, product launches, and promotions. Ensure alignment across all touchpoints to drive category visibility, customer engagement, and financial performance. Champion seamless cross-functional execution to support speed-to-market initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or related field.
Experience: - 5–8 years of merchandising or category management experience, with a strong emphasis on eCommerce or digital-first retail.
- Proven track record of owning financial performance and delivering growth across multiple product categories.
- Experience developing and executing end-to-end assortment strategies , product launches, and go-to-market plans.
- Strong background in product development and sourcing , including managing both long-lead international and short-lead domestic supply chains.
- Hands-on experience with site merchandising , including product placement, navigation, content optimization, and user experience to drive conversion and engagement.
- Deep understanding of digital analytics, customer behavior, and performance levers in an online environment.
