Korzen Health is collaborating with a healthcare network in Northern Arizona and seeking an Anesthesiologist to join our team at Flagstaff Medical Center. We are working with a team of 21 physician anesthesiologists and 16 CRNAs. We maintain a balanced workload, with half of our cases as solo and the other half involving medical direction (1:3 ratio).
Our Work Environment: We operate in a physician-led department within a physician-led hospital system. This structure allows us to have a voice in hospital decisions and ensures our strong representation in hospital leadership and medical staff committees. Our administration is dedicated to supporting us in providing excellent patient care.
Types of Cases: We manage cases in 12 Main ORs and 3 ORs in our outpatient surgery center, along with OB services. We handle a variety of cases, excluding transplant and sick neonates. Our Main OR cases range from high-acuity trauma to low-acuity elective procedures. Additionally, we specialize in regional anesthesia.
Work Details: This position follows a shift-based contract, requiring 17 shifts per month for a 1.0 FTE position. Shifts typically last 8-12 hours, often allowing for early completion. While scheduled for approximately 50 hours during working weeks, in-house hours average less than 40. This flexible arrangement provides approximately 14 weeks of vacation per year, allowing you to take vacation in various blocks without seniority-based restrictions.
Work Assignments: Most shifts are during the day, either directing CRNAs or working independently. We also have evening and night shifts, but they are manageable. OB is the only 24-hour shift, counting as 2 shifts and followed by a post-call "off" day. Weekend assignments are distributed evenly among the team. Home backup calls are required but rarely utilized. Most assignments are compensated as shifts.
Extra Work: You have the option to take extra shifts, but it is not mandatory. Many team members choose to work 1-3 extra shifts per month, which is financially rewarding. Extra shifts are compensated based on your hourly rate and include a $500 extra shift stipend.
